Cloud Atlas followed number9dream to be David Mitchell's third novel. Like numberdream, Cloud Atlas was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize, a prize which David Mitchell has unjustifiably yet to win. Cloud Atlas is constructed in a similar format to Ghostwritten, with 6 separate but linked novels, 2 in the past, 2 in the present and 2 in the future. Each one is gripping and moving - it is indeed a very accomplished piece of literature.
